My Story
I am Jaco Basson, a dedicated life coach committed to helping individuals thrive. I am happily married to Mariska, an enthusiastic English teacher, and together, we are parents to two wonderful daughters, Isabel and Karla.
My life is enriched by my passion for the outdoors, mountain biking, sports, and golf, where I am still aiming for my second hole-in-one!
Professionally, my journey began as a Labour Law specialist, which led me to earn an LLB degree and manage the Legal Service offices for Telkom SA SOC Ltd in the Western and Eastern Cape. However, in 2018, I faced a personal challenge with my first panic attack, stemming from the accumulated stress of managing my daughters' cystic fibrosis. This experience led to my diagnosis of post-traumatic stress disorder and a transformative journey toward recovery.
Just as a train track stretches out towards the horizon, representing the path of our journey, my personal and professional journey has been one of navigating through challenges and discovering new directions. The sunrise over this track symbolizes the new beginnings and renewed hope that guided me through my recovery. My recovery involved extensive research on anxiety and applying various holistic methods. I was surprised to learn that anxiety affects 40 million adults in the USA and 12.5 to 15% of South Africans. My journey inspired me to help others, prompting me to leave the corporate world after 27 years and pursue my passion for life coaching.
Today, as registered Coach with the international Coach register, I use my expertise to help individuals manage stress, optimize their emotional wellness, and achieve their full potential.
Like the sunrise that brings light to the new day, my mission is to guide others towards their own brighter horizons.
